WinS Reflections: Monticello's Whitney Neuhauser

Whitney Neuhauser

A former winner of the 2006 Women in Sports (WinS) President’s Award, Whitney Neuhauser earned a wealth of recognition as a student-athlete at Monticello High School.

A graduate of MHS, Neuhauser was named the VSCA Junior Golfer of the Year in 2005, while earning Jefferson District Player of the Year honors as a senior.

Neuhauser also garnered All-Central Virginia recognition in her prep career.

After graduating from Monticello, Neuhauser matriculated down the road to the University of Virginia, where she’s been a key component in a budding golf program with nationwide appeal.

As the lone first year on the roster, Neuhauser played in seven tournaments, including the ACC championships and the NCAA East Regional.

Neuhauser was named to the All-ACC academic team and was chosen for the 2006-07 ACC Honor Roll.

Neuhauser closed her first season at the University with a season stroke average of 78.83.

As a second year, Neuhauser played in three fall tournaments and posted a No. 2 finish for the Wahoos at the Topy Cup.

Currently, Virginia, the 23rd-ranked program in the country, competed in the Qdoba Invitational in Miami Lakes, Florida this spring. Neuhauser posted a 224 to place seventh overall, which marks her second top 10 career finish and the first time she has placed in the top 10 in a 54-hole event.

Neuhauser carded a 72 during the final round of the Qdoba Invitational. The 72 was the best 18-hole score of her career.

Congratulations Whitney and good luck with the rest of your spring season!
