WinS nominating procedure

WinS

Since 1997, the Women In Sports organization annually recognizes outstanding female athletes from the local high schools – Albemarle, Charlottesville, Covenant, Monticello, St. Anne’s-Belfield and Western Albemarle.

You can find information on the WinS nominating procedure, including scholarship information, by reading this story.

An outstanding player from each school in each of the following sports - basketball, cross country, field hockey, indoor track, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field and volleyball - is recognized at our annual WinS banquet held in June.

Coaches are asked to nominate a female athlete from their team. The WinS nomination form includes information about letters earned, academic and athletic awards earned, player’s statistics and comments from the coach. (The coach’s comments are used to introduce the athlete at the banquet in June.)

All nominated athletes, their parents, and their coach are invited as guests of the Women In Sports organization to a banquet in June.

Additionally, nominated senior athletes are eligible to apply for the Linda Bunker/State Farm scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to the athlete with the highest GPA.
