Kisielus makes name for CVa

Laimis Kisielus

A miracle run in the CAA Tournament fell a step short for Miller School graduate Laimis Kisielus and the William and Mary basketball program.

George Mason dashed the Tribe's hopes to go dancing in March with a 69-58 victory over Kisielus and William and Mary in the championship of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament on Monday evening.

Will George Mason be the darling of the NCAA Tournament again?

After a stellar tourney, including the game-winning bucket against perennial power Virginia Commonwealth in the semifinals, Laimis Kisielus earned All-CAA Tournament recognition along with two other W&M teammates.

Kisielus scored a game-high 22 points in the loss to George Mason, while also logging five rebounds and three assists.

A senior, Kisielus tallied a game-high 23 points off 10-of-17 shooting in an upset of VCU.

Along with three other classmates, Kisielus represented Head Coach Tony Shaver’s first recruiting class at William and Mary. Kisielus helped push the Tribe to its only its sixth 17-win campaign in school history.

Kisielus played for two seasons under Miller School Head Coach Fred Wawner. He also played on the Lithuania Junior National Team.

Kisielus was born in Lithuania.
