Hayes leaving Blue Ridge football
By Dennis Steljes
ST GEORGE - After two years of service, Daryl Hayes is stepping down as head coach of the Blue Ridge School football program to return to Shepherd University as an offensive line coach.
This is Hayes' second run with the Rams, a Division II school in West Virginia.
Hayes replaced former Baron Head Coach Mike Alley, who resigned to pursue a position within the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
In a telephone interview, Hayes cited financial and family concerns for the move.
Hayes' replacement will inherit a team loaded with trackletes but will need to find a quarterback with the graduation of Chad Byers and his backup Scooter Renkin.
