Staying perfect: Louisa exacts revenge at Powhatan

Louisa

Louisa County coach Mark Fischer has something special brewing - again.

Faced with the challenge of playing 24 hours earlier than expected, the Lions scored an opening-half touchdown and cruised to a 21-point victory at Powhatan on Thursday.

The contest was moved up one day to avoid the threat of inclement weather.

Louisa (2-0) blanked Powhatan, 21-0, on Thursday to avenge an ugly loss suffered last year in front of the Mineral Militia.

In fact, the Lions failed to score last year in their contest against Powhatan, losing 40-0.

Sitting undefeated, and with a new quarterback in place, Louisa has promptly thrust its way into a position as a prominent player in upcoming Jefferson District title race.

In the season’s opening game, Louisa rolled past Eastern View High School, 27-20.

The Lions will return home next week, entertaining Spotsylvania on Sept. 12.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Louisa opens Jefferson District play on Sept. 26 against Western Albemarle (1-1).

Western hosts James Monroe tonight.

Congratulations to the Lions! It looks like the team has bought into Coach Fischer's concepts. Great job.
