and yet we complain about long lines at the check out

  3. eiphon says:

What’s with the hand when the runner’s chasing alone? Did he use it to keep track of direction?

  4. JelloToo says:

Definitely the truest test of human endurance and skill.

  5. saosebastionx says:

he would butcher the animal , dry the meat and skin in that sun to reduce the weight. remember there were 2 men following him not too far behind to help him out
    .

He was sporting Nick Airs and gatorade when he was thirsty. I was like damn hes good.

  7. Chrisguy42O says:

these guys should consider trapping :P

  8. Assassin977 says:

This is an one of the most amazing videos i’ve seen. To chase down an animal in that heat, for eight hours is incredible. These guys should do the iron man competitions.

Animals have very think skulls, often bullets can’t even pierce them. The eye sockets are the only way and they are small targets. In contrast the heart and lungs are located near each other making a large target. If either of these vital organs are hit the animal is done.

Hunting like lions is very inefficient. A human with a gun can kill hundreds of animals a day, whereas a lion kills maybe 2-3 at the most. Now if we were like lions with guns, that would fucking own.

  10. shootnfight says:

Indeed, but I doubt that he would be able to carry more than 50-80 lbs (which is a small amount of meet for a whole village) of meat the entire distance that he ran (he is a runner and therefore not a lot of upper body strength). That animal seems to be at least 250 lbs, which is a huge waste, especially after all the effort he put in. My main point is that I wish this clip covered this logistical problem. Good logical thinking on your part though. I love this stuff.

  11. barukkhazaddum says:

If he was really exhausted he could camp, butcher part of the carcass on the spot to reduce the weight and eat some himself, then start back the next day.

msoulja, the branching point at which we split from other higher apes was solely because of our capacity to think. The point at which we began manipulating our environment was the point at which we became the dominant species.

If technology were to completely fail, you are correct in that many people would not survive. But to say that the majority of us would perish is disingenuous. I think you underestimate how powerful the human brain is – we are extremely clever animals when we need to be.

  13. msoulja says:

    Indeed.

  14. MegaSingularity says:

I am the son of Earth my history doesnt begins by a book that is mere 1400 or 2009 years old I am the survivor of men, my people have suffered, my people have endured war, I m the survivor and Earth is my Mother, Universe is my conscience and I m one with no god but nature I am the survivor I am the son of Earth.

    To Peace

  15. NaRc911 says:

lol, yeah thats what I was thinking…and as soon a he leaves it a lion going to come and eat it on him. Sucks to be him..

  16. LordOfTheGnus says:

You could consider tools as modular additions to the body. In a sense, a man with a spear is a cyborg; he is a creature with both organic and artificial components. Same goes for clothing, or any other tool.

  17. msoulja says:

Imagine if we were to enter a global calamity with our technology cannot save us. We’d be back to square one and the majority of us will perish due to no connection with nature. Depending whether or not you can very the concept of spirit in your own reality will greatly determine how you evaluate nature vs technology and if spirit was real how that plays a role in evolution. From my stand point, it’s the most important.
    Peace.

  18. TommyBergen says:

Interesting thought, however, you could argue that evolving the brain instead of claws, has done us well in the evolutionary race, and allowed us to evolve engines, that can race faster than any animal, and weapons that can pierce any armor of an animal. However, I see your point in it not being “our own”. Brain is though.

  19. shootnfight says:

anyone know how he gets the meat back to his family? I mean he just ran for 8 hours.

  20. thoughtyoudlike2know says:

The ritual the bushman performs at the end reminds me of the ways of North American natives and the way they would thank the spirit of the animal that they kill. Thank it for giving it’s life so that they may eat & survive. To me it’s less about the ritual & more about conciousness. Unlike they way we go to the grocery store & buy meat without thinking. No thought about how animals are slaughtered on mass by those left with the undesirable job to do so on our behalf.

  21. Kronikwookie says:

cause then we would be gorillas

  22. msoulja says:

Would the spear be coated in poison? If not, why not drive it through the animal’s skull? I’ve always wondered why humans have never attempted to hunt like lions and use hteir bare hands and thus evolve the necessary strength to do so instead of relying on tools. To me, tool use is anti-evolutionary because it only trains the mind and not the body as opposed to a total organic natural way of hunting like a lion or leopard. Amazing video tho.

  23. thomasinc says:

    your stupid.
