Yes but the fact that the impala lies so perfectly still while being choked is evidence that it is a simulation – by the time the cheetah has its jaws on your neck the most adaptive strategy might be not to struggle and hence play the odds that it will let up just long enough for escape. Continued struggle would not be likely to result in escape and would also force the cheetah to continue a vigorous attack.
I am not quite sure it’s simulation. The impala was nearly suffocated by the cheetah, but since the hyena didn’t let the cheetah finish the choking job, the impala needed a few moments catch its breath and get the hell out of there. It’s just an unfinished kill, rather than a simulation.

That Impala was slick, and very smart but was also placed in an unlikely situation. Usually (Like 9/10) the Cheetah would have already killed the Impala or Gazelle before the Hyenas show up… That scavenging Hyena ran up too soon, that’s what he gets lol… Once the Cheetah was gone the Impala was like MC Hammer “You Can’t Touch This” lol
